Episode 162: Inclusiveness

A female Thor! A black Captain America! A straight Constantine! This episode has it all true believers, except Asians. Would an Asian Hulk get mentioned on the View?

In this episode, we discuss the recent examples of inclusiveness in comic books and games as well as whether or not you should try to make your games more inclusive. Like everyone else, we forget that Captain Marvel, a black woman, led the Avengers in the eighties and that the previous leader had been Wasp, another woman. Lyal even had those issues.

Episode 97: Creature Feature: Fairies

In this installment of Creature Features, we get in the Christmas spirit (kind of) and talk about fairies, except for elves (okay, not at all). We discuss different elements you can use in your game, which apparently includes David Bowie’s bulging crotch (all that Wayne remembered from Labyrinth).
We also finally settle the question of which was the best superhero movie of 2012: The Dark Knight Rises or The Avengers.

Lyal tries a new microphone and literally sounds like he’s phoning it in instead of metaphorically (as usual). Funny how the microphone picks up the sound of ice dropping into a glass from three metres away with perfect clarity, but struggles to pick up a voice from three centimetres away.  Looks like it’s back to the sound board.

Episode 23: Licensed to Vill(ain)

“So, Pureheart, we meet again. I always knew it would come down to us: you, the epitome of good, and me, the embodiment of evil. But am I evil? Is it evil to protect what is precious to you? Growing up in the ghettos of the East, I learned many things, and one of those things was that if you play the game of…”

“I got a 16 for initiative. I charge.”

“Hey! I’m monologuing here!”

In this episode, we run down the questions that every gamemaster should consider when making their villains. You’ve been warned, players.

Kristos sits in for his first non-board game episode. You’ve been warned, listeners.

Episode 5: Identity Crisis!

Episode 5 takes a look at playing different ethnicities, cultures and genders than your own. We discuss what we consider important in creating, playing, and GMing very different characters. Even if, apparently, all of Lyal’s characters are sarcastic, all of Chris’ are Scottish, and Wayne’s are accidentally bi.

We also touch on the use of voices, playing non-humans (slightly), and the current competition for top-sexy.

Thank you to everyone who’s offered feedback and comments here, on facebook, and by email! We love affirmation!
