Free League is developing a new version of Twilight 2000 that was funded on Kickstarter. It will be a boxed set and was developed in collaboration with Game Designer’s Workshop. The Chronicle system that powered Green Ronin’s A Song of Ice and Fire RPG will now be available as a setting neutral ruleset called Sword Chronicle. There were some minor to armor and intrigue, but it will play very similar to the first incarnation. Thousand Suns RPG by Grognardia Games and designed by James Maliszewski is worth a look if you are looking for a scfi system that was inspired by the “imperial” science fiction of the 1950s and 60s. It uses a 2d12 system called the 12 Degree system. Chris will play in a session of Visigoths vs. Mall Goths by Lucius Kahn @oh_theogony. Thousand Year Old Vampire and Ironsworn Delve were also winners. As of this release, the Star Trek 2d20 Humble Bundle is now concluded, but the PDFs are available on DriveThruRPG and the free quickstart is on the Modiphius store. The Masters of the Universe going to be a pen and paper RPG power by Cortex Prime. Legends of Grayskull will be published in 2021 and will include a 250-page hardcover guidebook with pull-out maps, a digital companion, a community content creation and sharing platform, and an organized play program.
Cast members from the HBO A Game of Thrones series play Dungeons and Dragons for charity. The new boxed set for 9th edition Warhammer 40k, Indomitus, revealed. It is not a starter set but does include the new 9E core rulebook. Wizards of the Coast bans Magic the Gathering cards and not for gameplay or balance reasons. Legends of Vox Machina Series delayed due to pandemic and localization reasons with no new release date announced. Kentucky Fried Chicken announces the “release” of their KFConsole, opportunistically timed to take advantage of the Sony Playstation 5 and new Microsoft Xbox announcements.

Frosthaven, the sequel to Gloomhaven by Cephalofair Games, finished big on Kickstarter becoming the most funded boardgame ever. A well-deserved success. Kickstarter is laying off 45% of its staff due to the 35% decline in active projects on the platform and absolutely nothing to do with their recent unionization. Battlestar Galactica has a space battle miniatures game we will be trying. Critter Hug is a new series by some of the cast of Critical Role. A good thing for the hobby or just good old fashioned payola. Never Going Home by Wet Ink Games is a World War occult roleplaying game set during the Great War with art by Charles Ferguson-Avery. The game mechanics and the setting look excellent. Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History has an great series on World War One if you want some background for this game. A YouTube channel, Filmento is worth checking out if you like movies. Into The Night, a Belgian Netflix series, may provide good inspiration for a roleplaying campaign.

Fantasy Flight Games is moving the production of their RPGs to Edge Entertainment. Plaid Hat Games founder, Colby Dauch, is reacquiring the company from Fantasy Flight Games. They will lose Dead of Winter, Mice and Mystics and Stuffed Fables in the deal. Free RPG Day 2020 will be on June 13th. It is now run by Gaming Days LLC and offers plenty of alternatives to the World’s Greatest Roleplaying Game. To celebrate the release of their Amazon series based on their RPG “Tales From the Loop” Free League Publishing will be release a boxed starter set for the game which included pre-generated characters, a rulebook, an original adventure, map, and 10 custom dice. Warcaster: Neo Machanika by Privateer Press finished a successful Kickstarter campaign. This is their first new wargame IP produced for Kickstarter. It raises a few questions about their motives.
